Originally from Portland, Oregon, Maria began her love affair with horses, adventure, and travel while a young girl and has pursued these passions into adulthood.

Maria attended the Universities of Oregon (Eugene) and California (Santa Barbara) where she obtained degrees in Resource Management, Kinesiology, and Coaching. She ultimately settled in Southern California where she writes for the equine, adventure travel, restaurant, and New Age markets as well as for television and film. She divides her time between her ranch in Northeastern Oregon, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, and other hidden corners of the off-the-beaten world path.

Maria has traveled and ridden extensively worldwide. She is experienced in a number of riding disciplines including trail and endurance riding, packing, dressage, jumping, polo, barrel racing, and cutting.

Her published works include: Horseman’s English/Spanish Posters I, II, and III; The Ultimate English/Spanish Dictionary for Horsemen; The Horseman’s English/Spanish Dictionary; Horsewords, The Equine Dictionary; The Allen Equine Dictionary; The Horseman’s German/English Dictionary; The Restaurant & Bar English/Spanish Spanish/English Dictionary; Horse Sense, 365 of Equine Wisdom; Dog Sense, 365 Days of Canine Wisdom; Cat Sense, 365 Days of Feline Wisdom; and Tales of a Beverly Hills Bitch.
